Next up, a custom ring for Courtesy of the Artist using this incredibly unique piece of natural Australian turquoise from the Northern Territory.
The Australian turquoise that I work with is completely natural and untreated. What does this mean exactly? Well a lot of turquoise on the market these days is either dyed to enhance its colour, stablised (filled with an epoxy filler to make it harder), or reconstituted (powdered down turquoise is mixed with epoxy to create an almost compressed-like stone). There is nothing wrong with these processes, but it’s something I believe everyone who buys a piece of turquoise needs to be aware of and informed about.
I worked with my client from Melbourne virtually on this custom piece. We decided on a wide, flat band in 18ct white gold, four delicate claws and a beautiful brushed, matte finish. I am so thrilled with the finished piece!
