Working on this bespoke piece late last year was about so much more than just making jewellery.

This set of three necklaces is one of the most special things I’ve ever been asked to make. It began not with sketches or stones… but with a view from my client’s bedroom window. “It really has been quite an amazing journey to think that it started with me gazing out at the sunset every night… and that all those colours that I saw over several months, and the moon, is all encapsulated in this piece. There’s something so incredible about that that I can’t even put into words.”

Months of noticing, of watching the sky soften and deepen each evening. Of colours shifting slowly, the moon appearing and disappearing. These were moments my client noticed and held onto… and asked me to translate into something lasting.

Over many months, every detail was designed slowly and thoughtfully. The first necklace is a crescent moon, its outline soft and slightly hazy crafted in 18ct rose gold and traced with Australian grey diamonds from Western Australia.

The second necklace captures the stretch of sunset itself … rare pink, purple and blue Australian sapphires and a single Argyle white diamond, placed to represent the exact colours that would wash across the sky.

The third necklace uses greens and yellows inspired by a flowering gum tree, all Australian sapphires, with a bright pink Australian sapphire from Barrington Tops in NSW at its centre. My client asked for a eucalyptus leaf beside it… so I carved a tiny one by hand in rose gold.

What an honour it has been to bring this diamond crescent moon and Australian sapphire charm necklaces to life. As they are worn, they carry not only moments… but the story of every gem, each one sourced from Australia, transforming memory into something my client can hold close. I just love that.
