As a designer, I’ve always felt a deep connection to the environment that inspires my creations. So when it comes to photographing my jewellery, I prefer to get behind the lens and take matters into my own hands.
Yes, you heard it right – I photograph my own work.
Handing over the reins to professional photographers for jewellery shoots has always posed a challenge for me. After all, from conception to creation, I am intimately involved in every step of the design process. So why stop there?
For me, the journey doesn’t end with the finished piece. I dedicate a significant amount of time to curating, styling, and capturing photographs of each creation. Through my lens, I aim to convey not just the physical beauty of the jewellery, but also the stories and emotions woven into each design.
Storytelling lies at the heart of my creative practice. Each piece I create has its own narrative – a tale of inspiration, craftsmanship, and personal connection.
With every click of the shutter, I strive to encapsulate the essence of my designs – the interplay of light and shadow, the textures, and the emotions they evoke. It’s a process that allows me to delve deeper into the soul of each piece, to explore its nuances and capture its essence in a single frame.
So, here I am, my photographing my jewellery in the very environment that inspired it. Each click of the shutter is a testament to the passion and dedication that goes into every piece I create.
Thank you to photographer Kimberley Low for capturing me in my element and for helping me tell my story.
