It was a special day, full of creativity and love, as Nicoletta and I embarked on a heartfelt project together. With her Mum’s birthday just around the corner, we decided to make a pair of earrings that would be a beautiful and meaningful surprise.

I use the word “collaboration” because that’s exactly what it was. This was a real collaboration between Nicoletta and me.

Nicoletta, who is just four years old, took the lead in designing and crafting the earrings out of jeweller’s wax. It was a joy to watch her little fingers work so carefully with the wax, cutting it, spiraling it, pressing it. She embraced the organic nature of the process with such enthusiasm and creativity. I wish I had filmed her making them; I only managed to take a few photos. But I also love that I was able to focus on her fully and watch her with amazement.

Once Nicoletta had completed her beautiful design, it was my job to transform her creation into gold, solder the earring posts, and set the stones. We chose two diamonds—one representing Nicoletta and one representing her Mum—and a few sapphires, which is Nicoletta’s birthstone.

The result was nothing short of magical. The earrings were not only stunning but also filled with so much love and meaning. Seeing Nicoletta’s face light up with pride as we admired the finished product was priceless.
