As I sit down to reflect on the journey that led me to create the “From the Heart” collection, I am filled with a profound sense of gratitude and purpose. This collection, born from my own health struggles and triumphs, holds a special place in my heart as a testament to resilience and awareness.
At the core of this collection lies a personal journey marked by challenges. In my early twenties, I faced the daunting diagnosis of multiple blood clots in my lungs, a condition known as pulmonary emboli. This cardiovascular condition, triggered by a combination of genetic blood clotting conditions and the use of oral contraceptives, threw me into a world of uncertainty and fear. Amidst the darkness, I found strength in the support of loved ones and the pursuit of balance in both my physical and emotional well-being.
Years on from this experience, I am still compelled to share my story as a beacon awareness. Cardiovascular disease, the silent killer that affects so many women, became a focal point of my advocacy efforts. With “From the Heart,” I aim to initiate conversations about cardiovascular health, empower women to prioritize their well-being, and offer a symbol of solidarity to those touched by heart disease.
Statistics paint a grim picture: cardiovascular disease claims the lives of 20 Australian women each day, striking women of all ages and backgrounds. Through this collection of jewellery, I strive to share knowledge about the risk factors associated with heart disease and ignite a sense of urgency for proactive health management. But beyond awareness, “From the Heart” seeks to infuse light and positivity into the lives of individuals navigating their own heart health journeys.
As Mother’s Day approaches, I am reminded of the mothers, daughters, sisters, and friends whose lives have been touched by heart disease. The “From the Heart” heart necklace is a timeless symbol of love that Mothers can cherish for years to come; a beautiful reminder of the love that binds us together.
