/  Australian Sapphires: The Sea Grape Surface Ring

The Sea Grape Surface Ring from my most recent jewellery collection NEPTUNE is inspired by vibrant green sea grapes that adorn the shoreline of the NSW south coast, each one a tiny, natural jewel.

Handcrafted from textured 18ct yellow gold, this ring holds nine Australian sapphires reminiscent of single sea grapes and strands of Hormosira banksii, also known as Neptune’s Necklace. The Australian green sapphires are bead set, seeming to float within the gold, just like the sea grapes themselves along the sandy shores.

Creating this ring was like translating the whispers of the ocean into gold and gemstones. It’s a reminder of the beauty that lies beneath the waves, the treasures waiting to be discovered in the depths. With every glance at this ring, I’m transported back to the shoreline, listening to the tales of the sea.

THE SEA GRAPE STORY

Pieces in the Sea Grape series reflect the smooth, bright bubble of a sea grape, bursting with life. Australian chrysoprase cabochons and custom cut Chrysoprase slices meet Australian sapphires and golden granules in organic forms, reminiscent of the textures of the shoreline. In this place, layers of matter that come from different sources all find harmony in a shared landing place. Explore the Sea Grape series in my latest collection NEPTUNE here.
